As part of its place making agenda, the Buffalo City Metropolitan Development Agency contracted Ampersand Studio to assist with its public art policy development; public art strategy development and accompanying public art implementation development.
The overall intention of Buffalo City’s public art program is to enhance its citizen’s experience of the city, as well as creating points of attraction and activities for tourists. This will lead to the creation of developmental nodes which will in turn create low market entry job opportunities.
This project formed part of the wider Buffalo City Municipality’s tourism development which was premised on place making and thus focused on heritage as a foundational point of departure.
Ampersand Studio was also responsible storyline development and content development, which in turn informed route and product development. This took the form of the creation of a cohesive visual identity which could be applied in various branding applications.
